Brittney Griner hit the court at the Footprint Center as she and the Phoenix Mercury inch closer to her WNBA return.

Griner will officially return to the Mercury and the W on May 21st when the team rings in the new season. The Mercury hyped this up this week by posting a video featuring the star hooper.

“It’s one thing to be back on the court, it’s another thing to be back at home. Be back with BG at Footprint Center on May 21st,” the Mercury tweeted.

Griner returns to basketball in the United States after being detained overseas in Russia. Authorities caught the superstar basketball player with medically-prescribed hashish oil and led her to be sentenced to a penal colony. Russia and the United States arranged for a prisoner swap that allowed her to return home to the United States late last year.

Brittney Griner is undoubtedly one of the best women’s basketball players of the 21st century. She has won titles both collegiately and professionally. She’s won numerous individual accolades as well and will resume her professional career next month. It seems like she’s ready to ball based on the video the team tweeted.

The sports world reacted to the news. Many, as always, were rooting for Griner to succeed. That’s about what you expect at this point.
