Thanks in no small part to the star power of young WNBA players Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, the women’s game has grown tremendously in a short amount of time, leading to the league expanding at a rapid rate.
The stars of the women’s game are finally starting to get the recognition they deserve as well. One of the aforementioned young stars, in particular, has received an honor that every kid dreams of growing up. =
“Angel Reese is your #NBA2K26 WNBA Edition Cover Athlete!” NBA 2K tweeted from its official account.
“Being on the cover of NBA 2K26 and debuting my first-ever signature shoe with Reebok on that cover, the Angel Reese 1, is more than a milestone—it’s a statement,” Reese said in a release, according to Awful Announcing. “It’s about representation and showing young girls they can be confident, bold, and take up space unapologetically.
“To be cemented in NBA 2K history is a special honor that reflects not only my journey, but also all the veteran WNBA players who have paved the way before me and the growing impact of the league as a whole. I’m proud to be part of a game that continues to elevate women’s basketball and can’t wait for fans to see how NBA 2K26 brings our game to life like never before.”
“Shouldn’t one of the leagues best players be on the cover instead?” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“You mean the player that only rebounds and scores on layups? She’s the Dennis Rodman of the WNBA. I don’t remember him making any video game covers,” one fan added.
“They should have done one cover w/ her and one w/ Clark and see which one sells more,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Clark ever gets to be a 2K cover athlete.
