A truly boring Monday in sports. Are you pumped up for Tuesday’s Cheat Sheet or what?! Don’t worry, we have some more linkage and fun videos to help make up for the lack of sports stories as we wait five more days for SB50 to get here.

Peyton Manning’s future the main topic of Media Night

An incredibly slow sports day – and that may be the case until Sunday — left us with Media Night as the top story. And from what I’ve gathered, it wasn’t a very interesting media night either.

Here’s an example of how things went for the Broncos’ side of things:

Peyton, Peyton, Peyton, Peyton. Also, Peyton. However, one topic involving Manning was worth taking note of (when the question was asked to him, that is): is SB50 going to be his last game in the NFL? Here’s what he said to say about it:

“I truly don’t know the answer to that,” Manning told NFL Network’s Marshall Faulk. “I’m taking it one week at a time. I don’t want to look too far ahead and I don’t want to look too far back.” Manning later said he would do a “comprehensive analysis” after the season, but that he is also realistic that this “could be it.”

Earlier on Monday, Ian Rapoport reported that Peyton has already told close friends that he’s retiring:

“The reality is he let the cat out of the bag a little bit,” Rapoport said. “I also know he has told close friends that he expects this to be his last game as well.”

Let’s also keep in mind that a team has to want Peyton to be their starting quarterback, and I also doubt he’d want to come back to do that another year for a crap team like the Cleveland Browns. The fact that he was statistically the worst starting quarterback in several key categories this year seems to be getting forgotten because the Broncos are in the Super Bowl… thanks to their awesome defense. Peyton is smart enough to realize all of this, and also realize that his physical skills are unlikely to look better next year at 40 (unless injuries really played that much of a part in his performance this year).

So, I’d personally be surprised if he plays again after Sunday, but we’ll see.

We’re 5 days away from Super Bowl 50

– Brad Gagnon ranks the 49 Super Bowls.

– Here’s a great topic: Would an MVP and a Super Bowl victory move Cam Newton into Hall of Fame territory? We know he’s going to win the MVP, at least. And my answer to the question would be “Yes”, but that’s assuming he has at least a decent career the rest of the way. It’s hard to see that not being the case if we take serious injury out of the equation.

The Denver Broncos’ buses were involved in a minor accident after practice on Monday.

– More Peyton Manning and arguably the more important story: Peyton and the Broncos ate chicken parm on their way to the Super Bowl.

Turnovers: The Super Bowl 50 X-Factor.

Wade Phillips’ chance at magical finish he deserves.

Rethinking Denver’s pass rush vs Cam Newton.

Food and drinks no one should have at a Super Bowl party.

– Well, this is weird: NFL makes music video honoring babies conceived on the night of the Super Bowl.

Richard Deitsch thinks the Super Bowl kickoff time should be moved to 4:30 PM ET.
