The Australian Open women’s final between No. 2 Caroline Wozniacki and No. 1 Simona Halep was outstanding, with Wozniacki winning 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 for her long-awaited first Grand Slam title.
And Wozniacki saved her best for last in the grueling match.
Halep was serving with the game 30-30 and Wozniacki leading the final set 5-4, when Wozniacki won a completely absurd point to set up match point. This is the point of the tournament and as good as it gets:
That was followed by a tremendous final point from Wozniacki to secure the Australian Open title, for her first major victory in 43 opportunities:
Nobody deserved to lose this match, and Wozniacki even apologized to Halep for winning:

Along with getting Wozniacki her first major title, it also gives her the No. 1 ranking in the world for the first time since 2012, and makes her the first person from Denmark to win a Grand Slam singles title.
