Roger Penske owning team and series 'hinders IndyCar's legitimacy' (James Hinchcliffe)
Roger Penske has done a lot of great things for IndyCar, but recent developments involving Team Penske bring up the inherent conflict of interest Penske has by owning the NTT IndyCar Series, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and one of the top teams in the series. Ever since buying the track and the series in 2019, there were concerns about a conflict of interest. But with a second cheating scandal in consecutive seasons, this one resulting in IndyCar officials not spotting the infraction for over a year, those concerns are growing. Fox IndyCar analyst James Hinchcliffe appreciates what Penske did to get the series through COVID, but feels it's time for Penske to choose between his team and the series.NOTE: We recorded with James on Tuesday 5/22, one day before Roger Penske announced he fired team president Tim Cindric, managing director Ron Ruzewski, and general manager Kyle Moyer.
