NASCAR driver Mike Wallace and his daughter had an unexpected trip to the hospital Friday evening as both were attacked after a concert.
According to a Facebook post from Wallace, he and his daughter, Lindsey Wallace Van Wingerden, were leaving a Rascal Flatts concert at PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte when three men attacked the father and daughter, sending them to the hospital. One man was arrested and charged that evening, while the other two men were arrested and charged on Saturday. Kenny Wallace, Mike’s brother and former NASCAR driver/current NASCAR TV analyst, got the word out on social media about what happened.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the two men arrested early Saturday were Nathan Lucas and Randolph Mangum. They were both charged with simple assault. Paul Lucas was the man arrested on Friday. He was charged with assault on a female.
All three men have been released on bond. They have court appearances set for July 22 in Mecklenburg County District Court.
Wallace has competed in all levels of professional racing. He has competed in the Sprint Cup Series since 1991, running in 197 races. Wallace has finished in the top 10 in 14 different Sprint Cup races, but he has not raced since 2015. He has since raced periodically in the lower NASCAR series as well as at small town dirt tracks.
The Wallace family is one of the most well known families of NASCAR and auto racing. Both he and his two brothers — Rusty (NASCAR Hall of Famer) and Kenny — have raced professionally. Two of Mike Wallace’s kids — Chrissy and Matt — also race competitively.
