Ryan Reynolds, Michael B. Jordan, and Rob McElhenney decided to invest in an Alpine F1 team.
Renault, which is Alpine’s parent company, announced the news on Monday in a statement saying Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners, and Maximum Effort Investments (which includes the trio of actors) are taking a 24 percent equity stake in the organization, which is worth $218 million.
Alpine is thrilled with the new deal. According to TMZ Sports, they said the partnership “will bring successful sports & media experience and operational expertise in building high-growth companies.”
This is Reynolds’s second time investing in a sports franchise. He also is a part-owner of the Welsh soccer team Wrexham AFC, which he bought back in 2020.
Michael B. Jordan is one of the few minority owners in the world of racing behind, not surprisingly Michael B. Jordan, who is part owner of the NASCAR team 23Xl along with current driver Denny Hamlin.
Celebrity ownership in the sports world has become big news lately, with several familiar faces joining in part ownership of a franchise in some sport.
Formula 1 champ Lewis Hamilton even owns a piece of the Denver Broncos, and Tom Brady made headlines when he received a small amount of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Expect this trend of celebrity ownership in sports to continue.
