Kevin Harvick didn’t have a great start to this NASCAR Cup season but he’s sure making the most of his finish and earning his nickname as “The Closer.” Harvick won Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series 400-lap race at Richmond Raceway for his second straight win, just in time for the Cup playoffs.
This was Harvick’s 60th career Cup win and his first at Richmond since 2013. He also becomes the first driver to win back-to-back races this season. The win ties him with Kyle Busch on the all-time Cup Series wins list.
The 46-year-old now has two straight wins and six top-10 finishes in the past eight races, making him a prime contender to try and win his second Cup championship. Harvick won the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series previously.
He held off a late charge from Christopher Bell to win by 0.441 seconds. The No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing driver led 55 laps in the race and held on for the huge victory.
The news of Harvick’s back-to-back Cup wins certainly made an impact in NASCAR circles and there were some strong reactions all over Twitter.
kevin harvick had a winless streak and now he’s trying out a win streak. pretty smart thinking honestly

The series now heads to Watkins Glen International for the penultimate race of the regular season on August 13. We’ll see if Harvick can find a way to make it three in a row.
