The English language has no official academy to establish/purvey over the rules for the language, approve/deny new words for inclusion, etc. But The Oxford English Dictionary is as close to official as it gets.

While the many, many volumes include hundreds if not thousands of words you didn’t know existed, or were even English, there are some new “words” that have been added to the mix in the newest update.

Joining the Oxford English Dictionary in this June 2016 update among the 1,000 words and senses, as well as 2,000 revised and expanded entries for existing words include glamping (glamorous camping, which seems impossible), afghan biscuit (your guess is as good as mine), Scooby Snack (how was this not in the dictionary before- it’s a treat, basically) and if you’re into internet lingo, tl;dr (a dismissive response to a long account or narrative).

A few others that are now in the massive Dictionary include budgie smugglesROFL, MOOC and bovved. There’s plenty to sift through in this gigantic new set of additions to the Oxford Dictionary that will probably get you lost and make you laugh or cry or both. That is the glory of the English dictionary.
