On Thursday, FOX broke a lot of people’s hearts with the news that after five hilarious seasons, it wasn’t picking up a sixth season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
One day later, the possibility of no more new episodes was extinguished as NBC picked up the sitcom for a sixth season. The timing of the news was interesting, as the two people who broke the news were two of the show’s creators: Michael Schur and Dan Goor.
Of all places to break the news, Schur and Goor chose Twitter.

Michael — or as he goes by on Twitter “Ken Tremendous” — and Dan were right, this really wouldn’t have happened without the outpouring of support the show received after the news broke that Fox wasn’t renewing it for a sixth season. Everyone, and I mean everyone, immediately jumped on Twitter to protest the news.
This included TV critics:

And even ridiculously famous actors.
Luckily for them, NBC took note and picked up the show for another season a day after Fox kicked it to the curb.
NBC at the end of the day seems like a good fit for Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Schur wrote for The Office before creating two shows that aired on NBC in Parks and Recreation and The Good Place. Goor meanwhile wrote for Parks and Recreation as well.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine debuted in 2013 and ran for five seasons on Fox. The cast for the show is tremendous: Andy Samberg (SNL), Terry Crews (The Longest Yard), Stephanie Beatriz (Bob’s Burgers, Modern Family), Melissa Fumero (Gossip Girl), Joe Lo Truglio (Superbad, I Love You Man, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp), Chelsea Peretti (Parks and Recreation, Big Mouth), Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Street, Men of a Certain Age), and more.
I always thought this show was out of place on FOX it belongs on NBC. I know shows move networks and sometimes that works like when JAG moved from NBC to CBS and sometimes it feels really crazy like Scrubs moving to ABC that was out of place but I think this will be a good fit
