Jim Harbaugh didn’t stick to sports when he appeared at a pro-life dinner earlier this week, where the Michigan football coach made his opinion on abortion very clear.
According to the Detroit Catholic, Harbaugh was the keynote speaker at the dinner in Plymouth, Michigan where he defended the “unborn” during an event designed to raise money for local pro-life charities.
“In God’s plan, each unborn human truly has a future filled with potential, talent, dreams and love,” Harbaugh reportedly said. “I have living proof in my family, my children, and the many thousands that I’ve coached that the unborn are amazing gifts from God to make this world a better place. To me, the right choice is to have the courage to let the unborn be born.”
The pro-life vs pro-choice debate has intensified in recent weeks, after the Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, taking a way a woman’s right to choose by handing states the ability to ban abortion in all cases.
“There are conflicts between the legitimate rights of the mother and the rights of the unborn child,” Harbaugh said. “One resolution might involve incredible hardship for the mother, family and society. Another results in the death of an unborn person.”
This wasn’t the first time Harbaugh chose not to stick to sports, previously claiming he didn’t “respect the motivation or the action” of Colin Kaepernick’s protest, before later evolving to call the quarterback a “hero.” This also wasn’t the first time Harbaugh made his feelings on abortion known, previously referring to it as “horrendous” during a podcast appearance in 2020.
