Herschel Walker, the Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia, faces Democratic incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock in the most bruising campaign of the 2022 midterm election cycle.
Former presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama, as well as Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, have all made their opinions on the race known. The race turned particularly nasty in the closing hours before last Tuesday’s election, and it appears the next month of campaigning will be no different.
But there was a light-hearted moment Wednesday afternoon, with Walker speaking at a rally in Georgia. The former Georgia Bulldogs star explained why he’d rather be a werewolf than a vampire:
“You ever watch a stupid movie late at night hoping it gets better but it doesn’t get better and you keep watching it anyway?” Walker asked the crowd. “The other night I was watching this movie called Fright Night, Freak Night, some kind of ‘Night.’ But it was about vampires. I don’t know if you know—vampires are cool people, are they not? But I’m going to tell you something I found out. A werewolf can kill a vampire. Do you know that? So I didn’t want to be a vampire anymore. I wanted to be a werewolf.”
Georgia voters head to the polls on Dec. 6th.
