Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker faces Democrat incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock in one of the nation’s most brutal campaigns.
The race could decide which party controls America’s most powerful legislative chamber come January.
Polls showed a statistical dead heat in the closing month, with the final poll revealing Walker having a two-point lead entering Election Day, though that was within the poll’s margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.
Former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump backed their party’s respective candidates. Even NBA star LeBron James campaign on behalf of Reverend Warnock.
Official prognosticators declared the familiar rivals will advance to a special runoff election since neither candidate cracked 50 percent of the vote.
The sports world was quick to react to the news:
@DavidPerdueGA would have easily defeated @Warnock in this cycle but he couldn't be @HerschelWalker because of Trump's demand for someone more subservient.
Final Four voting would have almost certainly elected Perdue last night.— Nate Bell (@NateBell4AR) November 9, 2022
I feel bad for the person who has to explain to Herschel Walker what a runoff is.
