Herschel Walker, the Republican candidate for Senate in Georgia, faces Democratic incumbent Reverend Raphael Warnock in one of the most pivotal elections of the midterm cycle. The race bruising race could ultimately decide which political party controls the powerful legislative chamber come January.
Both sides have eclipsed a combined $241 million in spending. Walker’s pro-life campaign has been rocked by two women accusing him of financing their abortions. The second accuser even appeared on camera in her interview with Good Morning America.
Walker, for his part, has denied the allegations. That hasn’t stopped two former presidents from commenting. Former president Donald Trump absolved Walker of the scandal, while former president Barack Obama said Walker, like Trump, was interested in being a celebrity and not much else. Walker blasted Obama in return.
Polling over the last month has shown a statistical dead heat between the two candidates. But the newest polling from right-leaning Trafalgar Group reveals Herschel leading Reverend Warnock by 2.2 percentage points, which must be noted is within the poll’s margin of error of 2.8 percentage points.
The polling revealed Walker with 47.7% of the vote. Warnock is at 45.5% of the vote. “Another candidate” earned 2.8%, while 4.3% of voters remain undecided.
The poll asked 1,093 Georgia residents their opinion on the race. This will likely be our last look at the race before voters head to the polls.
The 2022 midterm elections are slated for Nov. 8th.
