The Washington Capitals are throwing the world’s most epic trophy celebration. On Saturday night, over a full day after they claimed the Stanley Cup Thursday night and spent the night partying in Vegas, the team was still reveling.
The Capitals went to a Washington Nationals’ game Saturday afternoon, where captain Alex Ovechkin threw out the first pitch (and got it right on the second try) before giving a hilarious drunken interview alongside his teammates and continuing to drink and show off the Cup throughout the game. The party has only intensified from there. Jacob Bogage has an excellent running blog of the celebrations at The Washington Post, and there are plenty of other moments popping up ohn social media as well. Let’s start with Ovechkin doing a kegstand out of the Cup at Tony and Joe’s Seafood in Georgetown:
After that, there’s this fountain insanity, with Ovechkin swimming around shirtless and getting beer poured on him:
Maybe a little further dancing in the fountains with fans, complete with beer sprays and “Seven Nation Army” chants?

The Cup and members of the Caps then wound up at famed restaurant Cafe Milano, and ran into Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner:

And some of them stayed there later and led some enthusiastic renditions of Queen’s “We Are The Champions”:
Tattoos? Tattoos! Those are always a good idea:

If your team’s going to trust anyone with tattoos, though, might as well trust a Caps’ season ticket holder. And a whole lot of the team got in on this:
How about a bunch of Capitals’ players belting out Blink-182’s “All The Small Things” inside a party bus?
The Capitals have waited a long time for this title, the first in their franchise’s since-1974 history, and many players like Ovechkin (with the franchise since 2004) have suffered a lot of heartbreak en route to this one too. And it’s cool to see just how much fun they’re having. And it may not end here…

Given how this bacchanal has gone so far, that may not be too far-fetched.
