Professional athletes love spending time around one another, no matter the sport they play. However, it appears Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane had himself a bit too much fun at the NBA All-Star game in Toronto on Sunday night.
That’s because he apparently was late to a call for practice and eventually missed the entire thing. According to reports, Kane missed practice after getting home late from the All-Star Game right across the border at the Air Canada Centre.
Oops.
The Sabres will take on the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night, but Kane and his 16 goals and eight assists won’t be in the lineup.
It’s a blow to Buffalo, who are sitting near the bottom of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference on 52 points, 12 points back of a Wild Card spot.
This is just the latest incident in a long line for Kane, who has been no stranger to controversy during his NHL career. The 24-year old, who was acquired by the Sabres from the Winnipeg Jets just over a year ago, was involved in a sexual offense investigation near the end of last year, admitted to demanding a trade every year while in Winnipeg, and whined about the NHL playoffs, among other controversial, attention-grabbing incidents during his brief career.
