One of the best traditions in hockey is the teddy bear toss. It isn’t just a marvel to look at, it is also a great cause as well. This past weekend it was the Hershey Bears’ turn to rain plush toys down on the ice, and they did not disappoint, setting a record with 20,662 bears.
It was Garrett Mitchell of the Hershey Bears that scored the goal that allowed the fans to throw the bears onto the ice. It wasn’t just a few bears either, it was enough to delay the game for quite a while.
Sports are supposed to be about community, and philanthropic endeavors like this only make the game that much better. Kudos to Hershey and it’s fans.
