Will Levis was dripping in sweat when he finished the biggest game of his career on Monday. His performance was one he’ll never forget.
“Shoot, this is the biggest stage I’ve played on,” Levis said after the game, via The Tennessean. “It’s probably the biggest game I’ve won. It feels great. It feels awesome. Winning a football game regardless of the stage is the best feeling in the world. But this definitely makes it that much bigger.”
According to ESPN, with four minutes left in the Titans’ eventual 28-27 shocker over the Dolphins, there was a 99.7 percent percent chance Miami wins.
Not on Levis’ watch.
He managed to show off his arm strength against a tough defense hitting DeAndre Hopkins for 36 yards and then tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo for yards gained up against the two-minute warning. Soon after, Derrick Henry found himself in the endzone, giving Tennessee a historic comeback win.
It was a 327-yard passing game for the rookie quarterback, a career high.
“He’s resilient,” Henry said about Levis. “Anybody else would probably get flustered being a rookie. Stepping up, being a leader, having that will, having that drive to still believe and lead us just speaks a lot to his character … Will’s an intense guy. I knew he’d be ready for the moment and he showed it.”
