It’s time to face the facts. The Cleveland Browns are the most cursed organization in all of sports. The Browns have never won a Super Bowl, and it would take a miracle for that to ever change.
Cleveland leveraged its future in a massive trade with the Houston Texans for disgraced quarterback Deshaun Watson, and then signed him to the largest fully guaranteed contract in the history of the league.
The result of the trade and deal has been constant misery for Browns fans. Watson has been unavailable for what feels like nearly all of his time on the Browns roster, either due to injury or suspension. And the results when he is available aren’t great, as he’s been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league when he is on the field.
That’s not to mention the media circus that always seems to surround Watson and the always-floundering Browns. A confident player like Sheduuer Sanders needed a stable organization around him that would be able to control the media frenzy.
Instead, he shockingly fell to the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round at pick 144. Not only are the Browns not equipped to deal with the media, but as perennial losers, Sanders will be under even more pressure than if he’d been drafted by a more stable organization, like his new divisional rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Instead, Sanders has landed with the team that has elected to bring in infamous locker room malcontent Diontae Johnson.
It’s as if the Browns make every decision possible to ensure that they’ll be dismal and uncompetitive for as long as possible, including taking Shedeur Sanders after already drafting Dillon Gabriel in the third round.
Hopefully, Sanders can pull a rabbit out of the hat and find his way into any other jersey before his career is over, before it even begins.
