NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon knows football. He played in the Canadian Football League and the National Football League for many years.
The longtime signal-caller recognizes real talent when he sees it and he says the top quarterback in this year’s draft is Alabama product Bryce Young.
Young is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick by the Carolina Panthers Thursday night in the NFL Draft and Moon explains why.
“Bryce Young is my favorite,” Moon said. “I think he’s going to be a tremendous pro.”
Moon says he loves the Alabama quarterback’s instincts, leadership abilities, and track record of playmaking. However, he did concede he has some concerns about the quarterback’s 5-foot-10 frame, though he doesn’t think it will be as big of a deal as others have made of it.
He points to Arizona’s Kyler Murray and Denver’s Russell Wilson’s success in the league despite their height.
Moon also had some kind words for Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud who he thinks is the second-best quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Moon also thinks that quarterback prospects Will Levis and Anthony Richardson would benefit from a year on the bench to learn from a veteran quarterback.
