The Minnesota Vikings are entering their first season of the full J.J. McCarthy experience after the young quarterback lost his entire rookie season to a meniscus injury suffered in his first preseason appearance.

Unfortunately, McCarthy will be without one of his top targets for the first three games of the 2025 season. In response, the Vikings have brought in some help, bringing a former Viking star back into the fold, per one prominent league insider.

Reunion! The #Vikings are finalizing a trade for two-time Pro Bowl WR Adam Thielen, bringing home the Minnesota native in a deal with the #Panthers, sources tell me and (Ian Rapoport). Thielen and Justin Jefferson were teammates from 2020-2022. Now, they’re back together again. Carolina gets: 2026 5th and a 2027 4th. Minnesota gets: Thielen, a conditional 2026 7th and a 2027 5th rounder,” reported NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on Wednesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Vikings finally making them moves let’s go,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Wow that’s a lot for a 35 year old Wr. I get it the Vikings were desperate but dang,” someone else added.

“From hometown hero to Pro Bowler and now the return — story writes itself,” another fan wrote.

It’ll be interesting to see what the veteran wide reciever has left in the tank.
