Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been widely regarded as one of the top two quarterbacks in this year’s draft class at the quarterback position. However, some feel that Sanders is too arrogant and conceited for his own good.
Still, whatever someone may think of Sanders’s off-the-field personality, the quarterback’s production on the gridiron over his collegiate career has been undeniable. Now, his old school is awarding him with one of the highest honors possible.
“Witness Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have their jersey numbers retired during the Spring Game on April 19th,” the Colorado Buffaloes tweeted from the football program’s official Twitter account on Monday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Lol, you have not retired either Kordell Stewart or Michael Westbrook’s numbers, but you are retiring these guys’ numbers? That should infuriate your fanbase,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Travis joining Supreme Court Justice Whizzer White, Joe Romg, Bobby Anderson & the late Rashaan Salaam is a no brainer. There are 5 Buffs that had better careers in Boulder, won more awards/games & titles that should be retired before Shadeur,” another fan added.
“Hunter should be retired, Sanders shouldn’t,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders can prove his doubters wrong at the next level.
