As the New England Patriots continue to struggle, all eyes are on Patriots quarterback Mac Jones who once again finds himself struggling this season.
Jones has only thrown for over 1200 yards, five touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Many Patriot fans want Jones to be replaced with backup Bailey Zappe, but CBS NFL analyst Tony Romo has a theory as to why Jones won’t be replaced.
Romo says if the Patriots want to have a chance to win, they gotta stay with Jones and he believes Jones is better than what he has shown on the field.
“Mac Jones is better than what is being talked about or being shown,” Romo said. “Sometimes, the tape shows that he’s not playing well at times. I think the reason why he hasn’t been replaced is because he’s actually helping them have a chance to win more often.”
Many feel like Romo, that Jones is better than what he has shown. Another person who basically expressed that same sentiment is ESPN’s Dan Orlosky,
Orlosky defended Jones last week after the Patriots’ loss and said if Jones was in a better system like with the San Francisco 49ers, he’d be better off.
“If Mac Jones was in San Francisco, he would be playing like Brock Purdy,” Orlovsky said when appearing on ESPN’s “Get Up”.
It will be interesting to see if Bill Belichick will continue to stick with Jones this season or be pressured to make a change.
