With Tom Brady joining the Las Vegas Raiders as a minority owner, it’s led to some speculation that Brady could also join the roster as a quarterback. However, it’s since been revealed just how unlikely that would be – a move like that would require unanimous support from the league owners – which highlights just how ridiculous it was that the Miami Dolphins had similar plans back in 2021.

As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out, the Miami Dolphins had similar plans to bring in Tom Brady as both a player and a minority owner following his retirement from the NFL back in 2021.

“That’s when they were planning to: (1) sell Brady a slice of the team; (2) hire Sean Payton to be the coach; and (3) eventually deploy Brady as the quarterback,” Florio wrote.

But as we now know, this would not have worked.

“Owner Stephen Ross either overlooked or disregarded the issues inherent to Brady moving from ownership suite to sidelines. Beyond the fact that the Dolphins would have been required to swing a trade with the Bucs for Brady’s contractual rights, the Dolphins also would have needed, as we now know, a 32-0 vote of ownership to allow Brady to become a player,” Florio wrote.

Obviously, the plan didn’t work, and it looks even more ridiculous in hindsight.
