Earlier this year, legendary quarterback Tom Brady officially announced his retirement from the NFL. But it’s recently become clear that he’s still going to be involved in sports on the business side – as a minority owner of a WNBA franchise.
Tom Brady recently invested in the Las Vegas Aces WNBA franchise, buying a share of the team from majority owner Mark Davis, who also is the primary owner of the Las Vegas Raiders NFL franchise. Following Brady’s decision to buy into the franchise, Davis revealed that the thinks the legendary quarterback will be “a great partner.”
“I think he saw the progress that women’s basketball has made in terms of the level of play,” Davis said according to Vinny Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “And then the excitement of our fans and the passion of our fans.”
While Davis would not disclose Brady’s role with the team, the quarterback’s investment in the franchise is not small. When the deal is finalized, Brady will be the second-highest-stake owner of the team behind only Davis himself.
Davis said he hopes this business partnership leads to other opportunities for the two to work together.
“I hope for a long-term relationship in a number of things,” Davis said. “He’s a unique individual.”
