Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady recently made an appearance in Indianapolis, Indiana, for the Indy 500. However, once Brady took the stage, he was met by a chorus of boos from the fans in attendance.
“When Tom Brady appeared onstage today during a pre-race Indy 500 ceremony, he was met with boos,” posted ESPN’s Adam Schefter along with a video of the debacle.
The disdain for Brady in Indiana stems from his days with the New England Patriots, where he sustained a rivalry with the Indianapolis Colts and their quarterback, Peyton Manning, for AFC dominance.
Fans reacted to Brady being booed on social media.
“Why? Tom Brady is great. And that is hard for me to say as a Broncos fan. But it’s undeniable,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Tom Brady getting booed at Indy like he tried to deflate the tires. Bro walked out looking like he owns the race team and still eats plain grilled chicken. NASCAR fans saw him and went, ‘We like speed, not salad,'” another fan wrote.
“Haha it wasn’t really boos of hate. It was of respect. Booing while smiling,” one fan added.
“Indy fans still haven’t forgiven him for all those years haha,” someone else wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see if the state of Indiana ever forgives Brady.
