Tom Brady is one of the most successful athletes of all time. Over the course of his playing career, Brady won three MVP awards and seven Super Bowls as a starting quarterback. Brady has retired, but he’s still a very promient figure in sports.
The former quarterback is a part of the Las Vegas Raiders ownership group as well as the ownership group of English soccer club Birmingham City Football Club. With Brady still being so prominent in sports (he’s also an NFL analyst for FOX), he’s often on calls with reporters and journalists.
However, in one of his recent meetings, Brady got a little forward with a reporter, who also happened to be a minority.
“Morgan, I love your hair,” Brady told the woman, before following up with, “beautiful,” after she thanked him. The reporter blushed, and Brady followed up with, “atta girl, where you at?”
People reacted to the exchange on social media.
“Watching the way Black women respond to white men who compliment their hair vs Black men who compliment their hair is an interesting thing. CIA up 3-0,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“Oh sure but if I ask if I can touch it all the sudden the police are involved,” one person added of the reporter’s unique hair texture.
“All Tom Brady knows how to do is close. Asking ‘wya’ after shooting a compliment on a work call is absolutely wild behavior.
It’s interesting to see Brady act so casually after being so laser-focused on winning during his playing career.
