Many were worried how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would fare after the retirement of Tom Brady, but the Bucs have proven to be one of the top offenses in the NFL when fully healthy under quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Now, it appears that the organization has elected to reward Mayfield for the success he has had on the field, in a classy move that is sure to keep him motivated to play the best ball of his career.

Classy move by Tampa: The #Buccaneers have reworked QB Baker Mayfield’s contract to give him $30M guaranteed in 2026, per (Adam Schefter). He previously had no guaranteed money and was set to hit free agency after the 2026 season. This now gives him guaranteed money on the books while they work towards a longer extension,” reported JPA Football.

Fans reacted to the shocking news on social media.

“Baker locked up through ’26 at that price point shows the QB market’s not as crazy as everyone thinks. The fact he’s wearing orange in July means Tampa’s front office knows something we don’t about his ceiling. Trust the scouting more than the stat sheet here,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“He’s been one of the best QBs in the league since headed to Tampa, well deserved for Baker,” another fan added.

“Great….TB Bucks can look forward to being 9-8 the remainder of the contract!” someone else added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Mayfield lives up to the massive payday.
