Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Stetson Bennett IV recently won the second national championship of his career. However, he’s back in the news for all the wrong reasons following a public arrest for public intoxication.
WFAA broke the story. “Stetson Bennett, the former Georgia quarterback who just led the Bulldogs to a second straight national championship, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication early Sunday morning in Dallas, police confirmed to WFAA,” they wrote.
Bennett, the 25-year-old former Bulldogs star, was arrested early Sunday morning in Dallas, Texas.
The arrest occurred at 6 a.m. Sunday. Officers responded to reports of a man bangingww on doors in the area, according to the police report.
Police told WFAA that officers responded and determined Bennett to be intoxicated. Police transported Bennett to a local jail and released him shortly before 11 a.m.
The CFB world was quick to react to the news:

“Stetson Bennett is nearly three years older than Brock Purdy,” Ben Axelrod noted.
“Stetson Bennett being arrested overnight in dallas just tells me he really ready for the NFL,” wrote Mike Taddow.
“I’m only a couple yrs younger than Stetson Bennett, but fyi when I QB my team to a national championship I will spend the next three fortnights drunk. I’ll do the same when Pitt and/or Indiana does the same. Maybe even if either makes the playoff. Also, maybe if they don’t,” wrote Dve Dameshek.
Bennett recently declined an invite to the 2023 Senior Bowl.
