Being an NFL rookie isn’t easy, especially at training camp. At the Steelers camp, rookie cornerbacks Brian Allen and Cam Sutton didn’t even get a chance to settle in. On day one, they were handed a full-page grocery list and went shopping for all sorts of goodies for the team.

Allen publicized the shopping trip on social media.

Here’s what Allen told ESPN about the shopping spree:

“About a full page long with specific instructions,” said Allen, a fifth-round pick out of Utah. “We just did what we had to do.”

The bill came out to $500, which Allen and Sutton split. Not the end of the world when you’re making $465,000, but that’s still a hefty load of groceries. Last year, the Texans stuck rookie K.J. Dillon with a $7,700 dinner bill.

Ultimately, Allen and Sutton have it pretty good, because coach Mike Tomlin keeps rookie duties under control. For years, the team has embraced mentoring over hazing.

“No rookie hazing, just rookie dues,” Allen said. “All those vets take us under their wings. It’s just something that comes with the game.”

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Steelers news, star wide receiver Antonio Brown rolled up to camp in a Rolls Royce convertible with a chauffeur.
