The Pittsburgh Steelers added four-time NFL MVP-winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal this offseason, in what Rodgers is expecting to be his last season of football before he retires. However, Rodgers has admitted that he’s willing to reevaluate things and consider a return to the sport at the end of the season.

Rodgers and the Steelers fully believe that a Super Bowl run is possible this season, after their aggressive approach this offseason toward building a ready-to-compete roster, such as trading to land star wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Miami Dolphins.

Unfortunately, Rodgers’ newest mentee, rookie quarterback Will Howard, suffered an injury that ended what had been a strong first training camp for the young quarterback.

“I wish I could be out there playing, but the fact of the matter is, it happened, I’ve got to continue to stay locked in and make sure l’m still on my stuff and locked in during meetings and practice and still getting all the mental reps.

“Because this time still is important to me,” Howard said of the experience of getting injured in what had been such a promising training camp.

However, there was still optimism that Howard could return in time for Week 1. In a brutal development, it doesn’t appear as if that’s the case, according to one prominent league insider, who reported on a development to the situation with the regular season a little over a week away.

“Steelers signed S Chuck Clark and G Max Scharping to their active roster and placed QB Will Howard and CB Donte Kent on injured reserve,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Twitter.

It’ll be interesting to see when Howard is ready to return to action.
