The Pittsburgh Steelers finally inked veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal after being linked to the quarterback throughout the offseason. The addition of Rodgers all but closes any door to Mason Rudolph, who signed with the franchise earlier in the offseason, being the team’s starter this season.

Now, we know that some of the Steelers players feel bad about how things played out for Rudolph, who was entirely bought in from the moment he signed, according to one prominent Steelers outlet.

“Some of the Steelers players genuinely feel bad for Mason Rudolph,” reported Steelers Nation.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Seriously though why shelf him on the bench when he could have competed for a job elsewhere,” one fan wanted to know on Twitter.

“I acknowledge and appreciate that being in the NFL is a once-in-a-lifetime, sacred thing and shouldn’t be taken for granted, but damn, set some boundaries and have some respect for yourself. How many times will he let the Steelers play with his emotions and be cool with it?” one fan wanted to know.

“Idk what this love affair for mason is all about. He’s not a good starting QB. He lost a job to duck Hodges, kenny Pickett, will levis. Reality is, he’s not good,” someone else added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Rodgers has enough left in the tank to hold off Rudolph all season.
