The NFL world was struck with some huge tragedy this offseason when it was announced that former Ohio State standout Dwayne Haskins had unexpectedly passed away back in April following an unfortunate dump truck accident.
A number of former NFL teammates took to social media following the accident to pay their respects to Haskins and his family, but it appears that one of his former teams will honor the late quarterback for the entirety of the 2022-23 NFL season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers Senior Director of Communications Burt Lauten revealed on Friday that the team will wear a No.3 decal on their helmets throughout the upcoming season in honor of Haskins.
Haskins was famously drafted by the Washington Commanders with the 15th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but his tenure with the organization ended disastrously for the former star at Ohio State, being released after only two seasons with the team.
He was then picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021 to be a backup quarterback behind long-time quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and was with the organization at the time of his tragic passing.
Despite never seeing any game action during his time in Pittsburgh, the organization decided to honor his legacy in the NFL with these decals, and many around the NFL world are praising the Steelers’ organization for their decision on Friday.

The Steelers have long been recognized as one of the classiest organizations in the NFL, and their decision on Friday acknowledging Haskins’ legacy on and off the field in the NFL has many remembering that fact.
