The Pittsburgh Steelers have had an unusually active offseason in 2025. The Steelers traded star wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys for draft capital, while also bringing in star wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks in another trade.

In free agency, Pittsburgh added none other than four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers to be the team’s starting quarterback for the 2025 season, which Rodgers said he fully expects to be his final season in the NFL.

The defensive side of the ball has received treatment as well. The Steelers traded safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins in return for cornerback Jalen Ramsey. However, there’s still a major question mark on the defensive side of the ball.

Star pass rusher T.J. Watt has made it clear that he is looking for a contract extension with the organization, and even held out of mandatory minicamp earlier this offseason.

The Steelers’ busy offseason has led to increased chatter around the possibility of the franchise trading Watt away rather than extending him, and it seems as if we now have the Steelers’ final decision on how to proceed with the matter.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers have no INTENTION of trading all-pro edge TJ Watt,” reported NFL Rumors.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“And they shouldn’t. They be stupid to trade him. Cuz then that would severely handicap their defense,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“T.J. Watt has given everything to Pittsburgh. He deserves a new contract and a Super Bowl ring in the Black & Gold,” someone else added.

“You know they are going to get a deal done,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see how the situation plays out.
