The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the midst of what has been one of the most active offseasons in franchise history. Pittsburgh has traded for wide receiver DK Metcalf and also traded away receiver George Pickens. The Steelers also signed four-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers to be the starting quarterback for the 2025 season.
However, the Steelers still have a major question mark on the other side of the ball. Star pass rusher T.J. Watt has made it clear that he is unhappy with his current contract with the organization and wants a major extension inked this offseason.
However, no deal between the sides appears imminent, and there has been increased noise around a trade involving Watt. Now, it appears the Steelers have made their decision on whether or not to trade their defensive star.
“UPDATE: The Pittsburgh Steelers have no INTENTION of trading all-pro edge TJ Watt,” reported NFL Rumors on Twitter.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“That’s a shame because I DO NOT want to pay a 30 year old EDGE 40+ mill annually,” one Steelers fan wrote on Twitter.
“And they shouldn’t. They be stupid to trade him. Cuz then that would severely handicap their defense,” someone else added.
“Poor guy is stuck on a mid team with gramps at QB,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Watt holds out through the early part of the season.
