Johnny Manziel has had an interesting couple of years. The former NFL quarterback last played in the league in 2015. In 2016, Manziel was involved in multiple different brushes with the law.
Now in 2017, NFL executives are reportedly interesting in “fixing” the 2012 Heisman Trophy Award winner.
According to Mike Freeman at Bleacher Report, Manziel’s representatives have been reaching out to teams and discovered some are still interested in Manziel.
While some are intrigued by Manziel and the idea of fixing him, the quarterback is still a major reclamation project. The quarterback would need plenty of time to get his game up to speed and is a major liability for a team, especially on the public relations side of things.
Freeman added “it would not be stunning for a team to bring him in for a training camp look.” That would certainly be something. For what it’s worth, when Manziel peaked in college at Texas A&M he was very very good.
Along with his talent and big name draw being attractive to some teams, Manziel is still only 24-years-old.
The only thing is, despite the potential talent and age being positive characteristics for Manziel, a team would also have to deal with his off the field antics. Then again, if a team is able to “fix” him and help him get back on track, that would make one heck of a comeback story. And a great chapter in the inevitable 30 for 30.
