The Cleveland Browns are in the middle of what is, for all intents and purposes, the most interesting quarterback competition in the league heading into the 2025 season. The Browns have four quarterbacks vying for the job: Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, as well as rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
Sanders, who the fanbase seems to be rooting for to win the job, recently spoke about being named the starter eventually and how he’s handling things until then.
“When it’s time for me to play, it’s time for me to play. But I’m not looking too far into the future … I’m focused on the small things. And over time, the big things will happen,” Sanders told reporters in a clip that’s making the rounds on social media.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Tbh I was hating pretty hard on dude around the draft. This is a very mature answer and it seems like its geniunely coming from him. Pre draft I think his dad got in his head and told him he needs to exude this cocky form of confidence and that hurt him far more than it helped,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Good answer from him. But once again, he looked better than DG and Pickett. Kevin should give everyone equal opportunity and let the best man win. Flacco already knows the system. He needs to give younger even reps to compete.. Kevin, the one who said at the beginning,” another fan added.
“I’m so excited this is exactly what I wanted to happen the tides turning,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see who wins the job for Week One.
