The Denver Broncos are off to a particularly disappointing start to the 2023 NFL season under head coach Sean Payton, beginning the year with just a 0-3 record and losing their last game by a blowout score of 70-20. They desperately need a win this week, but they’re also taking on another team that desperately needs a win, as well.

The Denver Broncos take on the Chicago Bears this weekend with both teams looking to avoid an 0-4 start to the season, but the Bears are just as desperate for a win. Broncos head coach Sean Payton acknowledges that, and made it clear that’s been a point of emphasis in practice.

“Well, for us, it would mean a lot,” Payton said during his press conference this week, according to Pro Football Talk. “Then I can answer the fun questions. We need a win. Chicago does too. They do, too. That’s why we have to win these days — Wednesday, Thursday. I thought today was a really good practice. We have to follow that up tomorrow, but a win would mean a lot for us right now.”

If the Broncos are able to secure a victory, that would bring their record to 1-3 ahead of a matchup with a struggling New York Jets team. So while the team may be in a hole to start the season, there’s a clear path to dig themselves out, starting with this week’s game against the Bears.
