Even though preseason games are just exhibitions that do not matter in the grand scheme of things, nobody wants to lose a football game 41-0. But unfortunately for the Los Angeles Rams, that’s exactly what happened on Saturday night when they took on the Denver Broncos.
Even though neither team was playing their starters, the Broncos thoroughly dominated the Rams from start to finish. And after the game, Rams head coach Sean McVay got brutally honest about his team’s performance, calling the blowout loss “humbling.”
“That was a humbling night,” McVay said according to Pro Football Talk. “That’s not a night you ever want to go through no matter what your approach is. . . . There are some guys that got that some opportunities that we might be counting on for our 53 and so I’ll have to be able to look at some film but tonight was a good humbling night that you sometimes have in football and you have to be able to learn from them and move on accordingly.”
While the preseason isn’t necessarily an indicator of regular season success or failure, the Rams went 0-3 in the preseason and lost their three games by a combined score of 109-34. And it’s tough to feel good about that.
