If the Buffalo Bills want to make good on their potential as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, they’re going to need quarterback Josh Allen to be healthy. Right now, his status for this weekend’s game is in flux due to an elbow injury, and it sounds like they still don’t know whether or not he’ll play on Sunday.
Allen hasn’t practiced all week but head coach Sean McDermott did not specifically rule him out for the game against the Minnesota Vikings during an interview on WGR 550.
“Today we’re going to literally take it one hour at a time and see how things go through the course of today and then go from there,” McDermott said, via Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com.
If Allen can’t go on Sunday, Case Keenum will get the start for the Bills. He told reporters earlier in the week that he’s preparing as if he’ll be the signal-caller for Buffalo.
“I’m doing the same thing I do every week, I prepare to play every week, every day, every period, every practice, every meeting,” Keenum said. “So it’s the same just got a few more reps today. I feel great, feel great with the communication, the mindset of the team with [offensive coordinator Ken] Dorsey, and the communication from Sean everybody and taking it a day at a time.”
Whether he plays this weekend or doesn’t, Bills fans will have a sigh of relief if and when Allen is back on the field and healthy.
