Former All-Pro offensive lineman Jason Peters was once viewed as one of the best tackles in the NFL but had surprisingly remained unsigned in free agency. That is until one team decided to take a chance on him on Tuesday.
According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, Peters will be signing with the Seahawks’ practice squad. The move comes amidst uncertainty at the tackle position for Seattle as both Charles Cross (sprained big toe) and Abraham Lucas (sore patella) left Sunday’s loss to the Rams and did not return.
Peters spent the 2022 season with the Dallas Cowboys. He was signed to the team’s practice squad to provide depth while Tyron Smith recovered from his torn hamstring injury. Peters played sparingly, as he suffered multiple injuries, including one on his hip, that kept him out of the divisional playoff round loss to the 49ers.
Peters is 41 years old but has continued to play at an effective level. After spending the first four seasons of his career with the Bills, Peters was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles prior to the 2009 season, where he found tremendous success, being named an All-Pro twice, winning Super Bowl LII with Philadelphia, and being one of four tackles named to the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade Team.
