Many NFL fans found it weird seeing Bobby Wagner in a Los Angeles Rams uniform last season.
Now, it appears Wagner might be headed home.
Seattle Seahawks General Manager John Schneider told Seattle Sports 710 AM Thursday that he’s been in touch with the nine-time All-Pro linebacker. A report in late February noted the Rams and Wagner would part ways after he spent one season in Los Angeles. The Rams gave Wagner permission to contact other teams.
Wagner spent his first 10 seasons in Seattle.
“We’ve been able to talk to Bobby now and address some of those things, so it’s worked out great,” Schneider said (via SI.com). “We’re going to be in communication as we go along throughout free agency now.”
Bringing back Wagner would be a popular move with fans and would also help the Seahawks on the field. The 32-year-old veteran is still playing as well as anyone. Wagner earned second-team All-Pro honors last season, posting a career-high six sacks. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 1 linebacker in the NFL in 2022.
“We had a great, awesome, frank conversation, so he knows where we are, and we know where he’s at,” Schneider said. “We have so much respect for him personally and professionally, so we were able to talk through some things and yeah, we know where it’s going.”
