The first Monday Night Football game of the 2022-23 NFL season was a fun one between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos in a game filled with interesting storylines.
This marked the first game with former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson under center for the Broncos, and Seattle was able to play spoiler to get the upset win over their former quarterback at home thanks to an impressive game from journeyman quarterback Geno Smith.
It was a huge win for Seattle as they look to piece together their future without Wilson, but they may have lost a significant piece to their defense in the process on Monday.
Seahawks safety Jamal Adams limped off the field after trying to sack Russell Wilson early in the second quarter, and right away it was an injury that looked to be a serious one.
He was unfortunately carted off the field following this injury, and we now know that Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has called this injury a “serious injury” that he believes is to Adams’ quadriceps tendon.
Adams has been an extremely productive player in his five seasons in the NFL, but injuries have plagued him as of late, causing him to miss significant time over the past two seasons.
At his best, he is a player that has made a Pro Bowl appearance in three out of the five full seasons that he has played, but availability is the best ability in the NFL, and it has become a worrying trend of injuries for Adams.
Carroll added that there is currently no timeline for his return for the Seahawks, so this will certainly be something to monitor as we go through the NFL season.
