The Seattle Seahawks made the surprising move to trade franchise quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting Smith with his former head coach, Pete Carroll, who is back on the NFL sidelines after a brief one-year retirement.

Seattle replaced Smith with veteran quarterback Sam Darnold, who had a resurgent season with the Minnesota Vikings last year, before struggling mightily in the last two games of the season, including a wild-card round playoff loss.

The Hawks also drafted Jalen Milroe, the former quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide with elite physical tools. Now, the Seahawks head coach, Mike MacDonald, is providing some clarity on what Milroe’s role with the team will be.

“We’re going to have plays in game plans for Jalen, and he’s going to rep those with the ones,” Macdonald said, according to Gregg Bell of The News Tribune.

Fans reacted to the revelation on social media.

“It will be running plays until they surprise a team with a big play action pass downfield on at 4th down,” one fan predicted on Twitter.

“Not worried about a ‘Jalen Milroe.’ This is what teams with Sam Darnold as QB1 do to try and scare opposing D. Bob Saleh ain’t losing sleep,” one fan added.

“Bring back coaches that would never give out the gameplan for no reason whatsoever to media,” someone else added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Milroe takes over as the full-time starter at some point during the season.
