Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley got the chance to meet United States President Donald Trump at the White House earlier this year, after earning the chance to visit the President with the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Trump must have thought the meeting went well, as he recently named the Eagles star to his new Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. However, it appears the star running back wants nothing to do with Trump’s new group.

“Eagles RB Saquon Barkley did not accept President Donald Trump’s invitation to serve on his council on sports, fitness and nutrition, he said Monday, adding that he was “shocked” his name was mentioned,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

People reacted to the news on social media.

“Must’ve got cooked to death in that locker room, back when he went golfing with Trump,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“It would make more sense for the people on the council to be out of sports now if they are really going to do anything. Anyone still playing it is a yr round commitment to stay in shape and work on skills,” someone else wrote on Twitter.

“Before someone tries to spin this as he hates Trump, keep in mind he did go to the White House after the Super Bowl. You ever think maybe he’s too focused on football to accept a role on a sports, fitness, and nutrition council,” another person added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Trump takes exception to Barkley passing on the opportunity.
