The San Francisco 49ers are desperate to leave their injury problems from last season in the past. Unfortunately, they’ve already suffered some brutal breaks through the early part of training camp.

Last week, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that young receiver Ricky Pearsall was nursing a hamstring injury.

“If this was probably a few years ago, we would have practiced him today. … We wanted to make sure his conditioning was right. So we’re just doing that for three days. And if he can continue to hit all that [GPS tracking metrics] and his conditioning is good, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t out there Sunday.”

Now, another Niners receiver is dealing with an injury.

“Jauan Jennings re-aggravated the calf that was bothering him during OTAs and there’s no timetable for a return This was same leg he had injury before,” reported NFL Rumors on Thursday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“Thank god they didn’t pay him more money. Niners have the worst luck with WRs lately,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Oof, that’s rough for Jennings. Hope it’s not serious,” another fan added.

“No he’s saying he’s hurt cuz AGAIN he didn’t get a contract extension,” someone else wrote.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Niners respond to their wide receiver depth being tested so early.
