This season, second-year quarterback Sam Howell will be taking over as the starting quarterback of the Washington Commanders. But while he has plenty of doubters heading into the 2023 season, it sounds like he’s ready to prove those people wrong.
This week, Sam Howell addressed the concerns about him – the fact that he was drafted in the fifth round and did not play much during his first season in the league – but he also made it clear that he is confident heading into his first season as a starter.
“I know that some people might think it’s crazy just because of how the draft went, and I hardly played at all last year,” Howell said according to Bryan Manning of USA Today. “But for me, it doesn’t really change anything for me. I know the type of player that I can be in this league. I feel like I’ve worked very hard and put myself in a position to go out there and succeed, so I really could care less what other people say. It’s really about what I hear in this building and what I hear internally.”
It’s clear that Howell is going to have a chance to prove a lot of people wrong this upcoming NFL season.
