The New Orleans Saints are the last team with uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position. It’s understandable why the Saints are still figuring things out, as the franchise was blindsided by the shocking retirement of quarterback Derek Carr due to injury.

The Saints have conducted a quarterback competition between Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, and rookie Tyler Shough throughout training camp. Now, just before the final preseason game, the Saints have made a major decision about how to proceed, per one prominent league insider.

“The New Orleans Saints — the only team that hasn’t decided on a starting quarterback for opening day — will start QB Spencer Rattler in Saturday’s preseason finale vs. the Denver Broncos,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.

“I pray we are trash this year and get a top pick also need to trade Kamara let him ball out somewhere he’ll be useful for and not waste his years here,” one Saints fan wrote on Twitter.

“Rattler will struggle their issues are basing it off who performs best against 3’s and state farm customer service reps, not the 1’s and 2’s,” someone else wrote.

“The fact that they are undecided on the starter tells you all that you need to know. This team doesn’t have 1 of 32 on their roster right now,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see what Rattler does in the opportunity.
