The New Orleans Saints came to terms with wide receiver Michael Thomas on a one-year contract.

Thomas won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award after a record-breaking 2019. But in the last few years, injuries have snakebitten Thomas to the point that he has struggled to get on the field. But they have managed to survive and they are apparently ready to move on. This deal is perfect for both parties. The Saints won’t have to go out and find a veteran wide receiver and Thomas can prove himself as a No. 1 receiver again.

If he does well, that will allow him to get a better contract if not with the Saints, then with another team. But Thomas seems to be content being in New Orleans.

With Derek Carr coming to the Saints, maybe their offense can come back to form from when Drew Brees was under center. Since his retirement, the Saints’ offense hasn’t been the same.

Injuries, bad play and just a lack of weapons had the Saints missing the playoffs, something that they aren’t used to.

Maybe now with Carr at quarterback and Thomas back at full strength, New Orleans’ offense can get back on track.

In his seven-year career in the NFL, Michael Thomas has recorded 526 receptions, 6,121 yards, and 35 touchdowns.
