Speculation is running wild that the Las Vegas Raiders are looking for a replacement if Jimmy Garoppolo cannot start this upcoming season. Since the team revealed that the QB failed his physical and still recovering from foot surgery, many wondered what the Raiders will do now. The Raiders may look at former New Orleans Saints QB Jameis Winston as a possible replacement if Garopplo cannot start or gets hurt, Saints Wire managing editor John Sigler speculated on Tuesday.

Winston has had his share of injuries too, but before he got injured, he was putting up MVP-type numbers, so it wouldn’t be wrong if the Raiders decided to sign him. Sigler noted that it would take compensation via a trade to make the deal happen, of course.

According to some, the only other option is to see if Tom Brady will come out of retirement in case Garoppolo cannot start. Still, Brady hasn’t indicated that he is interested in playing in a Raiders uniform despite owning some of the team now.

Unless they make a trade for Jameis Winston or some other quarterback, they are stuck with 37-year-old Brian Hoyer or Chase Garbers. Hoyer at least has some experience in the position. However, Winston would be a better fit for the team.

Whatever the Raiders decide, they better decide quickly because training camp opens in July.
